  • Can my child (under 18) get a PAL?
Minors (age 12-17) can apply for their Minor's Possession License after taking the course. I regularly have parents attend my course with their children. Youth are great students...sometimes even better than their parents🙂. To get a Minor's Licence, you must: be between 12 and 17 years old take the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and pass the tests (as determined in Section 7 of the Firearms Act) When you turn 18, you will no longer be eligible for a Minor's Licence and you must apply for a PAL.
  • How do I get a Restricted PAL?
1.) After you have completed the Non-Restricted course (or have your Non-Restricted PAL), you can take the restricted course 2.) Take the Restricted Canadian Firearms Safety Course 3.) • Do I need the Hunter Safety to get a PAL?
No, you don't need a Hunter Safety number/card to take the Canadian Firearms Safety Course or to apply for your PAL. Hunter Safety is a provincial requirement, need to buy a hunting license. PAL is for any Canadian who wants to possess and acquire (own) firearms.
  • How do I sign up for the Canadian Firearms Safety Course?
Click here to select a course and checkout. You'll receive a confirmation email.
  • What's the difference between Non-Restricted and Restricted?
Non-Restricted is where you begin. If you want a PAL, this is the course you must take. The Non-Restricted PAL will allow you to purchase non-restricted firearms. Restricted is an optional course for those who have already taken the Non-Restricted. The Restricted PAL will allow you to purchase non-restricted firearms and restricted firearms. I'd say about 20% of my non-restricted students take the restricted course. It's not as popular but it's excellent and I highly recommend it. Fun fact: If you take both courses, you can apply for both at once in the same application.
  • How do I get a Non-Restricted PAL?
1.) Take the Non-Restricted Canadian Firearms Safety Course 2.) Pass the test at the end of the course 3.) The instructor will give you the application form after you pass the test 4.) Complete the application and mail it to the address on the application
  • I bought a ticket but something came up. Can I reschedule?
Tickets to my courses are non-refundable. No refunds, exchanges, or date changes will be made for any reason. However, you can send somebody in your place. Please check your schedule before purchasing tickets to avoid disappointment.
  • What happens if I show up late?
Students who show up after the start of the course will not be admitted. You'll forfeit your spot. You will not receive a refund if you show up late. Please be early to avoid disappointment.
  • What if I don't show up? Do I get a refund?
Think of this like buying concert tickets – your payment reserves your spot whether or not you’re there. There are no refunds for students who don't show up. I don't make any exceptions to this policy. However, if you can't make it you can let a friend attend in your place.
  • Can I Study The Handbook
Yes, you can study the CFSC Handbook here.

We learn about firearm safety from the CFSC handbook. Much of the course is about preventing accidents. I will discuss target shooting and hunting practices. You also handle several different firearms and many types of ammunition. You will learn proper procedures for handling, loading, and firing. The firearms we use are disabled and the ammunition is dummy ammunition. You'll learn about safe and legal storage.
